PREPPING FOR Q-SCHOOL
Wednesday, October 12, 2011
The year is slowing down and it's getting time for Q-School. I've had a solid year so far finishing 4th on the Hooter's Tour money list. This has been my most consistent year of my pro career. I've finished in the top 10 in 15 out of 21 events on the Hooter's Tour. I won a small Hooter's event last week, but I wish I could've won a regular season event. I'm not going to complain though. Right now I'm getting ready for PGA Tour Q-School, which begins next week. There are 4 stages to PGA Tour Q-School: Pre-qualifying, first stage, second stage, and finals. I'm exempt into first stage. Depending on the size of the field at your first stage site, around 20 and ties get into second stage. Typically there are between 70 and 80 people at each first stage site. Second stage has a stronger field and most sites allow the top 20 and ties into finals. Second stage has around 60 people at each site. I feel like my game is in good shape right now, and I'm looking forward to finishing the year strong.

Season Update
Tuesday, August 30, 2011
It's been a long time since I've posted a blog so I figured I would update you on how my year has been. I've played on the Hooter's Tour all year and so far I've had a consistent year. Currently, I'm 4th on the money list. I haven't had a win yet, but I've had 2 seconds and a lot of top 10's. I'm happy with the way I've played and just need a week where I get a hot putter so I can get a win. Every week someone shoots really low, and it's hard to do that without a hot putter. All year I've putted good, but to win, you have to get a week where you putt great.
Two weeks ago I earned a sponsor exemption into this week's Nationwide Tour event in Washington, PA which is just south of Pittsburgh. The points leader over the last 5 Hooter's events earned the exemption. I'm excited to get a chance to play out here on the Nationwide Tour this week. I played 9 holes this morning. The course is in good condition and puts a premium on driving it straight. Hopefully, I can play well this week, and I can finish the year out playing on the Nationwide Tour.

First Blog of 2011
Thursday, March 17, 2011
This year (2011) I'm going to do a better job with my blog. Currently, I'm planning on playing the Hooter's Tour this year unless I monday qualify for some Nationwide Tour events. So far, I've played 3 events this year with finishes of T10th, 2nd, and DQ. The DQ was a stupid mistake that is too long to explain, but basically, I signed an incorrect scorecard. Once I saw the mistake online I DQ'd myself from the tournament. I'm excited about how the year has started, and I'm looking forward to it just getting better!
I'm leaving on Sunday, March 20th and going to Cartersville, GA to see my teacher, Scott Hamilton. After my lesson I'm heading to Gainesville, GA for my first of 2 Hooter's Tour events in a row. The second one is in Conover, NC. Last year the Hooter's event in Gainesville, GA had the fastest greens we played all year. They were great, and from what I've been told, they are in great shape this year too!

Hooters Tour event 2 March 11, 2010
Thursday, March 11, 2010
This is my first blog in a long time! Sorry! I began my season a couple of weeks ago in Savannah, Ga. I finished T53 and played in some of the worst weather I've ever played in. Last week I played in Ocala, FL in a Hooter's Tour event. I didn't play well and missed the cut. This week I'm playing in Amelia Island, FL which is just outside of Jacksonville, FL. I feel like I'm playing well even though my scores haven't reflected it so far this year. I need to make more putts and I'll have a chance at winning. In professional golf, putting is the key. Good scores and good putting go hand in hand. I've had a good week so far with practice rounds on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. After my practice round on Tuesday my roommate and me went down to Orlando, FL to the Rife Putter studio and got fitted for putters. Rife has a special type of putter with grooves on the face that help the ball to roll better than all the other putters on the market. It's very interesting to watch what happens in slow motion when you putt a ball with a normal putter. The ball actually has backspin at first and skips for a little bit then begins rolling. A Rife Putter has no backspin and begins rolling almost immediately off the face. After leaving the Rife studio my buddy and me were driving down the interstate when he informed me the gas pedal wasn't working anymore. Then he says, "I think we're running out of gas." I said, "You have got to be kidding me!" Luckily he made it to an exit ramp where I got out of the car and pushed it 300 yards to the end of the exit ramp where we were across from a gas station. He went over to the gas station and got a gas can and a gallon of gas, put it in the tank and we drove to the station to fill up. Needless to say, this Tuesday was an interesting day! I begin play today at 12:36, weather permitting. I'm excited about the week and I'm looking forward to a strong finish. Talk soon!

11/11/08 2nd Stage of Q-School
Tuesday, November 11, 2008
This week I'm in Panama City, FL at 2nd stage of Q-School. Second stage for me is at the Hombre, which is one of my favorite courses! The Hombre is a very tough golf course that puts a huge emphasis on driving it straight off the tee and being patient. This course really tests you mentally. I've played 2nd stage here the last 2 years, and I got through in 2007. Last year, I ended up missing going to third stage by one shot. The hombre was not nice to me last year, but I feel that it is a course that rewards good play. If you shoot a good score on this course then you deserved it and did not fake your way around it. I'm not sure what to expect this year with the scores compared to the last couple of years, since the greens seem to be a little softer and slower. However, this is the Hombre, and it always seems to play much tougher in the tournament than in the practice rounds. The weather in the practice rounds always seems to be good then when it comes tournament time, the wind kicks up, and the course plays tough! I'm excited about how I've been playing lately and feel like I'm playing well enough to get to third stage, and play well. Talk soon!
