Lee Williams finished the 2009 eGolf Professional Tour season on a high note, finishing in a tie for 2nd place at the Tour Championship after a five-hole playoff with Matt Davidson and Jess Daley. The three were tied after 36 holes of play and were partnered together for the final round at Pine Needles Country Club. After all three fired rounds of -3 in the final round, the trio began a sudden death playoff.
The first hole saw two pars from Williams and Davidson, while Daley bogied the first to eliminate himself from the sudden death playoff. After matching each other shot for shot the next three holes, Davidson sealed the tournament with a 25 foot putt on the fourth hole (5th playoff hole). Williams had a putt to tie and extend the playoff, but barely missed.
Despite the playoff loss, Williams still earned $18,500 for the tournament (and $64,754 for the year). More importantly, Williams gained a significant amount of confidence before next week's first stage of the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament. Williams will play the first stage at the Auburn University Club, October 21-24.
